ไทยคม นำร่องให้บริการ Wifi สื่อสารผ่านดาวเทียมบนเครื่องบินเน้นลูกค้าสายการบินในไทยและเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้
บริษัท ไทยคม จำกัด (มหาชน) นำร่องให้บริการสื่อสารผ่านดาวเทียมบนเครื่องบิน (In-flight Connectivity) เพื่อเชื่อมต่อการสื่อสารในระบบ Wi-Fi ผ่านสัญญาณดาวเทียมไทยคม ได้เตรียมพร้อมสำหรับลูกค้ากลุ่มสายการบินทั้งไทยและต่างประเทศ ที่มีเส้นทางบินในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ โดยเลือกระบบปฏิบัติการบนแพลตฟอร์ม Hughes HX ซึ่งถือเป็นบริการอินเตอร์เน็ตความเร็วสูง ของบริษัท ฮิวส์ เน็ตเวิร์ค ซิสเท็ม จำกัด ผู้พัฒนาโซลูชั่นส์และบริการดาวเทียมสื่อสารบรอดแบรนด์ชั้นนำ เป็นพันธมิตรร่วมให้บริการ เชื่อมั่นสร้างชื่อดาวเทียมไทยด้วยบริการระดับโลก
ดร.สกล กิติวัชรพงศ์ ผู้ช่วยกรรมการผู้อำนวยการอาวุโส ส่วนปฏิบัติการออกอากาศโทรทัศน์ บมจ.ไทยคม เปิดเผยว่า “บริการสื่อสารผ่านดาวเทียมบนเครื่องบิน นับเป็นหนึ่งในบริการที่พัฒนาขึ้นตามแนวคิด Mobility Service ของไทยคม ซึ่งเป็นการพัฒนาโซลูชั่น ตลอดจนเทคโนโลยีการสื่อสาร และขยายขอบเขตการให้บริการผ่านดาวเทียม ให้ครอบคลุมในทุกภาคพื้น ทั้งภาคพื้นดิน น้ำ และอากาศ โดยเน้นรองรับลูกค้าทั้งในประเทศไทยและภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ การเลือกระบบ Hughes HX มาเป็นระบบปฏิบัติการบนแพลตฟอร์มการสื่อสารดาวเทียมบนเครื่องบินนี้ จะช่วยเสริมศักยภาพการให้บริการและสร้างมูลค่าเพิ่มให้สายการบินต่างๆ โดยสามารถนำเสนอบริการด้านการสื่อสารที่มีลักษณะเฉพาะและตรงกับความต้องการของลูกค้า เนื่องจากระบบดังกล่าวมีคุณสมบัติการสื่อสารแบบเรียลไทม์ (Real-time) ซึ่งถือเป็นระบบการสื่อสารสำหรับเคยู-แบนด์ (Ku-band) ที่ได้รับการยอมรับว่ามีศักยภาพสูงที่สุดระบบหนึ่งในปัจจุบัน และเป็นการช่วยตอกย้ำความมุ่งมั่นของไทยคม ในการพัฒนานวัตกรรมด้านเทคโนโลยีและบริการแบบครบวงจร (End-to-End Solutions) เชื่อมั่นว่าจะช่วยสร้างคุณค่าเพิ่มแก่ลูกค้า สร้างชื่อเสียงและนำรายได้เข้าสู่ประเทศ และเสริมศักยภาพการให้บริการของดาวเทียมไทย ที่สามารถเติบโตและแข่งขันได้ในระดับนานาชาติอีกด้วย”
ด้านนายราเมส รามาสวามี ผู้ช่วยกรรมการผู้อำนวยการ สายงานต่างประเทศ บริษัท ฮิวส์ เน็ตเวิร์ค ซิสเท็ม จำกัด เปิดเผยว่า “บริษัทมีความยินดีเป็นอย่างยิ่งที่ บมจ.ไทยคม ได้ให้ความไว้วางใจเลือกใช้ระบบ Hughes HX เพื่อทำงานร่วมกับแพลตฟอร์มการให้บริการสื่อสารดาวเทียมบนเครื่องบิน โดยบริษัทมีความเชื่อมั่นว่าระบบดังกล่าว จะสามารถทำงานร่วมกับอุปกรณ์ภาครับในโครงข่ายสื่อสารระบบ Wi-Fi ผ่านดาวเทียมบนเครื่องบินของ โรว์ 44 บริษัทในเครือของโกลบอล อีเกิ้ล เอ็นเตอร์เทนเม้นท์ ได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ และช่วยให้ไทยคมสามารถนำเสนอบริการสื่อสารผ่านดาวเทียมที่มีลักษณะเฉพาะ เชื่อถือได้ และสามารถตอบสนองความต้องการด้านการสื่อสารของลูกค้าในตลาดเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ได้อย่างสมบูรณ์แบบ”
การดำเนินการดังกล่าวถือเป็นอีกหนึ่งความก้าวหน้าในการดำเนินธุรกิจตามกลยุทธ์ New Frontiers ซึ่งมุ่งเน้นการให้บริการสื่อสารผ่านดาวเทียมแบบครบวงจรและไร้ขีดจำกัด เพื่อความสะดวกสบายในการใช้บริการและความสำเร็จทางธุรกิจของลูกค้าที่จับมือเป็นพันธมิตรกับไทยคมอย่างต่อเนื่อง
Thaicom leads In-flight Connectivity services Focusing the Airlines in Thailand and SE Asia
Thaicom Public Company Limited takes the lead in providing an In-flight Connectivity (IFC) services through a Wi-Fi platform of Thaicom’s satellites. The solution has been targeted to the airlines in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Thaicom has selected Hughes HX System, a high-speed internet platform, of Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), a global leader in broadband satellite solutions and services, which supports Thaicom to be competent in the global satellite market.
Dr.Sakon Kittivatcharapong, Senior Vice President, Ground System Operations, Thaicom PLC stated that, “Thaicom has expanded the In-flight Connectivity as a part of our Mobility Services which are the new innovations and technologies of satellite-based communications that have expansively served sea-air-land connectivity targeting the customers in Thailand and the Southeast Asia region.
