แอร์เอเชีย ประกาศงดเว้นค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมันตั้งแต่ 26 มกราคมนี้

ตามที่ราคาน้ำมันในตลาดโลกลดลง กลุ่มสายการบินแอร์เอเชีย รวมทั้งแอร์เอเชียเอ็กซ์ ไทย แอร์เอเชีย เอ็กซ์ และอินโดนิเซีย แอร์เอเชีย เอ็กซ์ จึงมีนโยบายงดเว้นค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมัน โดยนโยบายดังกล่าวจะมีผลต่อการสำรองที่นั่งตั้งแต่วันที่ 26 มกราคม 2558 นี้เป็นต้นไป

ก่อนหน้านี้เมื่อปี 2551 กลุ่มสายการบินแอร์เอเชียเป็นสายการบินแรกที่ประกาศงดเว้นค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมันทั้งในเส้นทางภายในประเทศและเส้นทางระหว่างประเทศ จนกระทั่งสภาวะราคาน้ำมันในตลาดโลกพุ่งสูงขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็วทำให้กลุ่มสายการบินฯ มีความจำเป็นต้องกลับมาเก็บค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมันอีกครั้งเมื่อปี 2554

นายโทนี่ เฟอร์นานเดส ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหารกลุ่มสายการบินแอร์เอเชีย กล่าวว่า “เราเป็นสายการบินที่มุ่งเน้นให้บริการโดยเน้นคุณภาพควบคู่ราคาที่ประหยัด และจะยังคงมุ่งมั่นที่จะทำให้การเดินทางโดยเครื่องบินเป็นเรื่องง่ายสำหรับทุกคน ทั้งนี้เมื่อสถานการณ์ราคาน้ำมันโลกลดลง เราจึงวางแผนนโยบายการงดเว้นเก็บค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมันดังกล่าว ตั้งแต่เดือนธันวาคมปีที่ผ่านมา ซึ่งนอกจากจะช่วยลดราคาการเดินทางสำหรับผู้โดยสารแล้วแล้ว ยังช่วยส่งเสริมอุตสาหกรรมการท่องเที่ยวภาพรวมอีกด้วย และเชื่อว่าจะเป็นการสร้างงานที่สำคัญ”

AirAsia abolishes fuel surcharge effective 26 Jan 2015

AirAsia will be abolishing fuel surcharge effective 26 January 2015 across all of its airlines in the group, as well as its low-cost long haul affiliates AirAsia X, Thai AirAsia X and Indonesia AirAsia X, in line with declining global oil prices.

AirAsia was the first airline to abolish fuel surcharge for all its domestic and international flights back in 2008, however rocketing fuel prices forced the airline to re-introduce fuel surcharge into its fares in 2011.

AirAsia’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes commented, “We are a high-value, low-fare airline and we will continue to strive to make flying as affordable as possible. This decision has been made in December 2014, which was in line with declining global oil prices. However, we are only able to implement it now, but we believe removing fuel surcharge and reducing travel costs will be a huge boost to the tourism industry. This will be a plus point for consumers, but the economy will also benefit from this as the tourism industry is a great job creator.”

The abolishment of fuel surcharge will further reduce travel costs and stimulate more demand for travel and tourism.
